Rektor Pertama UBB
Drs. H. Achmad Hudarni Rani, SH. Itulah nama lengkap Gubernur pertama Provinsi Kepulauan Bangka Belitung periode 2002-2007. Sejak 2014-2019 dan berlanjut ke periode kedua 2019-2024 beliau terpilih sebagai Senator Republik Indonesia (anggota DPD-RI).
Orangnya sederhana, bertubuh sedang, berkumis tipis manis. Mudah tersenyum dan juga suka bergurau.
Saya kenal Hudarni (demikian namanya dikenal), sebelum Provinsi Babel dibentuk. Usianya lebih muda sedikit dibanding saya. Kami lahir di tahun yang sama di 1950. Saya di bulan April dan beliau di bulan November.
Masa remaja kami tumbuh di Bangka. Saya tumbuh kembang di Belinyu dan Pangkalpinang, sedangkan Hudarni remajanya tumbuh kembang di Sungailiat. Meskipun demikian, di banyak kesempatan, Hudarni sering menyebut kami berteman sejak SMA, karena kami sama-sama remaja di SMA dalam tahun yang sama pula.
Saya merasa bahwa ikatan chemistry kami berdua kuat. Semasa perjuangan provinsi, tak henti-hentinya Hudarni mengontak saya untuk ikut membantu perjuangan. Bahkan Ikatan Keluarga Masyarakat Bangka Belitung Jawa Timur terbentuk sebelum provinsi terbentuk sengaja untuk mendukung dari luar bagi memperlancar pengesahan di tingkat pusat.
Saya bertemu Hudarni pertama kali sejak setelah remaja itu adalah ketika saya diundang oleh KNPI untuk menjadi moderator di suatu seminar yang salah satunya menampilkan Wakil Gubernur Sumsel Satya Nazori. Hudarni juga tampil sebagai moderator pada sesi pertama. Semangatnya boleh dan bicaranya tertata rapi dengan sekali-sekali menggunakan gaya bahasa Melayu yang menarik.
Setelah itu saya kembali ke Jember dan Jakarta, sibuk sebagai dosen dan juga leader untuk proyek Bank Dunia.
Pendek cerita, provinsi pun terbentuk, dan tidak berselang lama terdengar kabar Hudarni ditetapkan sebagai Gubernur pertama Provinsi Kepulauan Bangka Belitung. Saya kira jabatan itu pantas untuk beliau.
Saya bersyukur dan tetap sibuk dengan pekerjaan di Jember dan Jakarta. Setiap ujung minggu saya mengajar di Jember dan sekitar Jawa Timur. Sisanya saya bekerja sebagai leader untuk pengembangan kota besar di seluruh Indonesia.
Saya juga sudah mulai melupakan Hudarni. Bahkan, beliau jadi gubernur pun saya tidak memberi selamat langsung. Cukup bersyukur sajalah. Yang penting provinsi jadi terbentuk, merdeka untuk membangun, dan harapan akan jauh lebih maju daripada sekedar sebagai bagian kecil dari Provinsi Sumsel.
Namun, tiba-tiba saja telepon berdering di Subuh hari. Suara Hudarni bergema di seberang sana. “Cek ape kabar?”
“Oo.. Pak Gub ape kabar, tumben nelpon ne,” aku bergurau.
“Ah dak lah.. Sibuk aok?” lanjut Hudar.
Setelah olok-olok (bercanda) sana sini, Hudarni menawarkan untuk bisa membantu beliau di Babel. Banyak jabatan kosong katanya. Tetapi semua tawaran saya tolak dengan halus. Salah satu alasan adalah masih terikat kontrak dengan Program Bank Dunia itu.
Setelah itu sering sekali Hudarni menelepon untuk menawarkan jabatan. Saya masih menolaknya dengan halus.
Suatu hari beliau menelepon lagi. “Cek kalo sikok ne, beduse ka menolak. Kite ne nak buet universitas, tapi sampe kini maju dak mundur dak. Tolonglah cek Bustami bantu liat-liat ape kurang e ne…”
Mendengar kata universitas, tidak tidur saya malam itu. Terbayang saya anak-anak Babel berkeliaran mencari perguruan tinggi di luar pulau dan dengan biaya mahal. Cukuplah kita yang tua-tua ini merasakan pahit getir. Meski tidak semua tertampung, tetapi sebagian tertolong sudah lumayan.
Terpikir Hudarni yang pusing kepalanya. Beliau terlahir bukan sebagai pendidik pun terpikir tentang pendidikan. Bagaimana pula saya yang terlahir sebagai pendidik. Betul kata Hudarni, “Beduse kek anak cucu…”
Pulanglah saya untuk melihat-lihat dan sejak itulah “air naik ke lutut, merambat naik ke leher”. Berenanglah saya dengan Hudarni bersama Universitas Bangka Belitung (UBB) itu. Selalu saya sampaikan bahwa takdir Allah saya pulang ke Bangka melalui Hudarni. Selalu pula saya katakan, bahwa mungkin tanpa Hudarni, UBB entah kapan bisa terwujud.
Selamat jalan Cek Hudar, kawanku, rehatlah dengan tenang. Kita sedang dalam urutan untuk kumpul bersama kelak. Apa yang telah Cek buat itu adalah yang luar biasa dan istimewa bagi Bangka Belitung, bangsa dan negara. Semoga Allah meridhoi dan merahmati.
