BELITUNG – Dalam lawatan perdananya ke Pulau Belitung Penjabat (Pj) Gubernur Kepulauan Bangka Belitung, Suganda Pandapotan Pasaribu akan bermalam di Rumah Tuan Kuase.
Konon merupakan rumah pertama yang dibangun di Kecamatan Tanjung Pendam. Rumah tersebut menjadi saksi sejarah kekuasaan Belanda di Wilayah Pulau Belitung.
Rumah Tuan Kuase dahulunya digunakan pejabat Belanda saat merebut pulau yang terkenal dengan tambang timahnya. Saat ini, namanya telah berganti menjadi Rumah Bougenville.
Rumah Bougenville dibangun sekitar tahun 1862 oleh Jhon F. Londen persis di depan Pantai Tanjung Pendam, Jalan Melati, Tanjung Pandan, Belitung. Di sekitar rumah ini ditumbuhi pepohonan yang rindang dan membuat rumah ini begitu asri. Halamannya yang luas menjadikan rumah ini terasa begitu lapang dan nyaman.
Ciri arsitektur Belanda di rumah yang saat ini telah ditetapkan menjadi salah satu cagar budaya di Kota Tanjung Pandan ini begitu kental. Salah satunya adalah bentuk desain interiornya yang masih bergaya kolonial lengkap dengan ornamen-ornamen seperti bentuk pintu dan jendela.
Rumah yang dalam bahasa Belanda bernama Hoofdadministrateur ini memiliki luas sekitar 1,99 Hektar dengan 10 kamar serta taman di halaman depan dan belakang rumah. Rumah ini juga pernah digunakan sebagai Rumah Dinas Kepala Unit Penambangan Timah Belitung.
Sejak tahun 2000, Rumah Bougenville terdaftar sebagai salah satu cagar budaya. Selang 4 tahun, Pemerintah Provinsi Kepulauan Bangka Belitung mengambil alih Rumah Bougenville dan dijadikan sebagai tempat penginapan bagi pegawai yang melakukan dinas ke Pulau Belitung
Pada kesempatan ini, Suganda Pandapotan meminta agar Rumah Bougenville segera dilakukan rehabilitasi agar salah satu cagar budaya di Pulau Belitung tersebut dapat dimanfaatkan.
“Segera lakukan peremajaan, bangunan ini masih sangat layak dan kita perlu menjaga bangunan yang memiliki nilai historis. Saya harap Biro Umum dapat membuatkan lelang untuk biaya rehab. Terlebih dahulu membuat surat izin atau minta rekomendasi dari Balai Cagar Budaya Jambi,” pungkasnya. (***)
