Kendari – Pers Indonesia dituntut menjadi media yang mandiri dan mencerdaskan dengan cara tidak menjadi media click bait dengan alasan mengikuti arus jurnalistik. Hal ini tampak mengkawatirkan setelah makin berjamurnya media yang mengandalkan cara kerja tersebut.
Hal tersebut disampaikan Ketua Umum Persatuan Wartawan Indonesia (PWI) Pusat Atal S Depari saat memberikan sambutan dalam pembukaan Konvensi Nasional Hari Pers Nasional (HPN) 2022 di Kendari, Senin (7/2).
Atal melanjutkan PWI terus mendorong pers nasional untuk mengendalikan arus jurnalistik, memperbaiki kualitas pemberitaan, demi menjaga independensinya. Hal ini demi memperjuangkan salah satu pembahasan di konvensi nasional menyambut HPN tersebut yakni hak cipta jurnalistik.
“Media harus memperbaiki kualitas pemberitaan dan sedapat mungkin menghindari tren pemberitaan yang bias, provokatif, bombastis, atau tidak taat azas jurnalistik,” jelas Atal.
Selain itu Atal yang telah berkecimpung di media nasional selama puluhan tahun mengatakan, pembenahan harus terus dilakukan media nasional untuk menjaga marwah dan wibawa jurnalisme sebagai dasar dari kemandirian media.
“Inilah tantangan bagi kita untuk saat ini. Apakah media-media solider terhadap media kecil, apakah media-media kecil juga bisa menempatkan diri secara proporsional,” ucapnya.
Terakhir melalui Konvensi Nasional yang mengangka tema Membangun Kedaulatan Nasional di Tengah Gelombang Digitalisasi Global ini Atal berharap dapat menghasilkan rekomendasi atau deklarasi yang akan dilaporkan kepada Presiden Joko Widodo untuk ditindaklanjuti.
“Semoga hasil pers nasional di Kendari ini akan menghasilkan manfaat yang besar bagi Indonesia dan untuk pers,” harap Atal S Depari. (***)
