KARAKTER adalah sifat batin yang mengatur semua ide, tindakan, tata krama, dan sifat yang dimiliki seseorang.
Karakter digambarkan sebagai pengaruh lingkungan yang luas terhadap sifat manusia. Wynne mengklaim bahwa kata “karakter” berasal dari kata kerja Yunani “to mark,” yang berarti menandai bagaimana cara atau pun teknis untuk memfokuskan penerapan nilai kebaikan ke dalam tindakan atau pun tingkah laku.
Oleh karena itu, seseorang yang menunjukkan karakter mulia dianggap jujur, adil, dan suka menolong, sedangkan seseorang yang menunjukkan karakter negatif seperti ketidakjujuran, kekejaman, atau keserakahan dikatakan memiliki karakter sebaliknya. Menurut Depdiknas, “karakter” mengacu pada watak, tabiat, tabiat, atau kepribadian seseorang yang terinternalisasi.
Lembaga pendidikan resmi yang dikenal dengan nama Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan (SMK) dipercaya untuk membina generasi muda masa depan Indonesia yang terampil dan memiliki kemampuan keahlian.
Mereka juga mempersiapkan lulusannya agar memiliki pengetahuan dan kemampuan yang dibutuhkan oleh dunia industri.
Lulusan SMK berupaya menghasilkan lulusan yang memiliki informasi, keterampilan, dan kompetensi yang dibutuhkan dunia kerja, serta pola pikir yang sesuai dengan budaya kerja dunia usaha atau dunia industri.
Nilai-nilai budaya kerja dalam dunia usaha dan industri harus ditanamkan selama proses pembelajaran di SMK agar siswa setelah lulus memiliki kebiasaan untuk menerapkannya.
Hal ini lambat laun akan membentuk kepribadian siswa dan karakter bagi setiap siswa setelah lulus dari SMK.
Pada hakikatnya, tujuan pendidikan SMK adalah untuk menghasilkan siswa yang memenuhi persyaratan kerja tingkat menengah sesuai dengan bentuk pelatihan kejuruan yang diikutinya.
Oleh karena itu, pengelolaan siklus pembelajaran lebih berorientasi pada penggabungan teori dan praktik keterampilan kejuruan, yang mengacu pada persyaratan kerja tingkat menengah yang dibutuhkan oleh lingkungan kerja.
Adanya ketimpangan antara apa yang diciptakan oleh lembaga pendidikan dengan kebutuhan pasar tenaga kerja menjadi perhatian serius.
Oleh sebab itu, untuk meningkatkan kualitas lulusan SMK, Kemendikbud memperbanyak simulasi industri untuk setiap SMK.
Tujuan simulasi industri adalah membekali siswa SMK dengan pengetahuan tentang budaya kerja, kondisi riil di industri, dan penguasaan teknologi. Pembuatan model kerjasama juga akan dilakukan sebagai rencana aksi kebijakan.
Akan terjalin hubungan antara sekolah kejuruan, pendidikan tinggi kejuruan, dan pelatihan keterampilan dengan lingkungan industri, termasuk sektor kreatif.
Namun demikian, tidak bisa dipungkiri jika di abad ini kita sering mendengar tentang fenomena yang dikenal dengan Revolusi Industri 4.0. Dimana semua kemajuan teknis global disesuaikan dengan skenario ini.
Hal ini ditandai dengan meluasnya penggunaan tenaga manusia yang kemudian digantikan oleh robot. Akibatnya, 40% pekerjaan manusia di Asia Tenggara telah digantikan fungsinya oleh robot.
Ini tentu berdampak pada lulusan Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan (SMK) yang tentunya akan mengalami kecemasan saat memasuki dunia kerja. Mengingat praktik dunia kerja saat ini cukup parah dalam hal perekrutan tenaga kerja.
Jika diperhatikan terdapat ribuan lulusan SMK yang lulus setiap tahunnya dan berusaha untuk melamar pekerjaan di berbagai bidang sesuai dengan kemampuan dan keahliannya.
Namun hal ini tidak dibarengi dengan keberadaan lapangan kerja yang tersedia sesuai dengan banyaknya Angkatan kerja.
Oleh sebab itu, penting bagi lulusan SMK di era yang sangat canggih saat ini untuk dapat merubah pola pikir atau mindset mereka yang awalnya hanya ingin mendapatkan pekerjaan menjadi menciptakan lapangan kerja bagi banyak orang.
Merujuk pada data Kementerian Ketenagakerjaan (Kemnaker), jumlah pengangguran terbuka di Indonesia mencapai 8,4 juta orang pada Agustus 2022. Artinya bahwa, lebih dari separuh pengangguran itu tergolong optimistis karena sedang mencari kerja (60,7%).
Kemudian ada sebagian kecil yang sudah diterima bekerja tapi belum mulai bekerja (3,6%), atau sedang menyiapkan usaha sendiri (2,3%).
Globalisasi telah mendorong jiwa kewirausahaan dan sangat penting untuk dikembangkan dalam jiwa seseorang karena mendorong perkembangan ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi, khususnya teknologi informasi.
Terutama jika rasa awal semangat kewirausahaan sudah mendarah daging. Awal dari sebuah bisnis bukanlah sesuatu yang terjadi secara instan.
Banyak kisah sukses wirausaha dimulai dengan sang pendiri memulai bisnis sejak kecil agar dapat berkembang dan berkembang dengan cepat.
Mendorong siswa untuk membuka usaha sendiri merupakan salah satu strategi untuk mendongkrak jumlah wirausahawan di Indonesia.
Ada banyak program yang tersedia saat ini yang dapat dilihat oleh lulusan SMK untuk menginspirasi mereka dalam memulai bisnis sendiri.
Fungsi kewirausahaan sangat penting. Kewirausahaan adalah proses mengembangkan dan menggunakan kreativitas dan inovasi dalam mengatasi masalah dan mampu melihat peluang untuk memulai usaha, dengan kemampuan menemukan inovasi dan ide-ide baru dalam mengelola sumber daya alam yang dapat diakses.
Sebagian besar hambatan untuk memulai bisnis didorong oleh sejumlah faktor, termasuk ketakutan akan kegagalan, kurangnya dana, kecerdikan, dan niat. Ini terutama berlaku untuk siswa SMK.
Sebenarnya, keempat kesulitan ini bisa diatasi oleh seseorang dengan karakter yang optimis dan memiliki ide-ide orisinal.
Lulusan SMK harus merespon kondisi saat ini dengan tepat agar dapat memanfaatkan peluang yang tersedia bagi mereka sebagai calon pemimpin bangsa.
Akan tetapi, rendahnya minat di kalangan siswa SMK dalam bidang kewirausahaan, menghasilkan stereotype bahwa tujuan lulus dari SMK secara eksklusif yaitu untuk mencari pekerjaan.
Hal ini dilatarbelakangi oleh beberapa hal yang membuat siswa kurang berminat untuk berwirausaha, diantaranya yaitu minimnya dana untuk memulai usaha bisnis atau minimnya pendidikan kewirausahaan yang didapatkan.
Padahal lulusan SMK pun belum tentu menjamin untuk mendapatkan pekerjaan secara langsung. Dengan demikian, untuk membantu siswa lulusan SMK lebih menyadari betapa pentingnya kewirausahaan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari, pola pikir mereka ini perlu dibenahi dari yang awalnya hanya ingin mencari kerja menjadi pola pikir berwirausaha dengan memaksimalkan keterampilan yang dimiliki.
